A Total of 240 Years!

 - By Betty and Leo Levy -

Celebrating their 60th wedding anniversaries at a dinner party held recently in the Wine Room at University Village were Leo and Betty Levy and their friends, who were also married in 1949.

Leo met Matt Berenda (Patricia) at Manuel Arts High School in Los Angeles, and after graduating in 1946 Leo and Matt enlisted in the army. After being discharged from the army they attended the same college, and played football. There they met Marvin Zepeda (Ruth).

Genevieve Ondrejka’s husband, Charles, who after a long illness died two years ago, attended junior and high schools with Betty.

As newlyweds, going to college and working, with little extra money to spend, the four couples were happy just getting together in their homes and playing penny poker -- and then settling for half.

Over the years everyone moved from Los Angeles to other areas: San Clemente, Murrieta, Glendale and Woodland Hills. Although they live distances from one another, over the years they have taken vacations together to Yellowstone, San Diego and the Painted Desert, just to name a few.

Leo says, they have remained lifelong friends due to the fact they never discuss religion, because they are three different religions, and they never discuss politics because there, too, they would differ. So what do they talk about?

Their topics of conversations have certainly changed over the years. Betty said,  -- At one time we talked about new homes, adventures of our little children, vacations, etc. Now - - - we compare our MEDICATIONS!
