12/8/2011: Senior Concerns' Nutcracker Tea to Be Held at University Village THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF. — The third annual "Nutcracker Tea" celebrating the start of the holiday season will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University Village in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The fundraiser benefits Senior Concerns, a Conejo Valley non-profit organization dedicated to serving the senior communities in Ventura and western Los Angeles counties. The Nutcracker Tea will feature extravagant tea tables decorated in festive designs, an old-fashioned "high tea" with a variety of delicious teas, sandwiches and desserts, and a holiday wreath raffle. In addition, this year's event will feature a dance performance from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" by the Pacific Festival Ballet. According to Lori White, Senior Concerns event coordinator, the three-year-old Nutcracker Tea is one of the nonprofit's most popular events. "The Nutcracker Tea has sold out each of its first two years, so we encourage anyone interested in attending to make their reservation as soon as possible," White said. "Our volunteers do an extraordinary job of decorating the tables, while Chef Nicholas at University Village provides a sumptuous, elegant tea featuring all the traditional trimmings and a few special treats. This event is a wonderful way to kick off the holidays." The cost per person is $55 or $385 for a table of seven. Reservations are required in advance and can be made by contacting White at 805/497-0189, ext. 236. University Village is located at 3415 Campus Dr. on the northwest corner of Campus Drive and Olsen Road, just north of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
