Bridging the Food Gap
THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF. - University Village Thousand Oaks, the continuing care retirement community in Thousand Oaks, Calif., recently wrapped up its first food drive for MANNA, the Conejo Valley Food Bank. Nearly 50 boxes and bags of food and everyday toiletries were collected from the residents of University Village, along with food coupons, paper shopping bags and cash donations. According to John Gorham, executive director of MANNA, the shelves at the non-profit organization have been seriously depleted due to unprecedented demand over the last few months. The donations from University Village were delivered immediately after pick-up.
