Linkletter tells audience to stay active

A mild stroke suffered one year ago in the United Arab Emirates while negotiating a $60 million business deal may have made him dependent on a walking cane, but it failed to dull the wit and humor of 97-year-old radio and television personality Art Linkletter.
Linkletter’s signature smile and distinct voice, which asked questions to which kids gave the darndest answers, were on display Tuesday at University Village retirement community in Thousand Oaks where the host of two of America’s longest running radio-TV shows — “House Party” and “People Are Funny” — held court while celebrating Active Aging Week.
